About Me

About Me

Hello, my name is Louis McTague and I am a technical game designer working in the games industry. Although I always enjoyed playing games, it wasn’t until late high school that I realized my desire to create games and experiences for others. I recognized how games have helped me bond with loved ones and influenced my growth as a person more than any other form of media. Now, I create games that combine story and gameplay in ways to engage and inspires players to become better, as games have done for me. I want to help positively affect other people with experiences in the same way that I was growing up!

This desire took me to the University of Central Florida, where I joined the Game Dev Knights student organization as Treasurer, fundraising over $20,000 dollars for traveling to conferences and hosting student events. Through my time with the organization I made lifelong friends that continue to challenge and inspire me to work harder and become a better developer.

Outside of academics, I enjoy playing video games, of course. Some of my favorite games include The Last of Us, The Legend of Zelda, and Metal Gear Solid. Games that combine engaging, poignant stories with exciting gameplay like these are the reason that I got into game development in the first place. I intend to create games that combine story and gameplay in a way that engages and inspires players to become better, as games have done for me.

Outside of game development I have many hobbies such as fitness, rock climbing, cooking, and playing Dungeon and Dragons with friends. Fitness has been important to me ever since high school, so I always make time to engage in cardio, weight training, or rock climbing. Additionally, I’ve taken to hiking to enjoy the beauty of nature and challenge myself.
